Mr. Jessie Edward Roberts, age 80, of Bowdon, Georgia, passed away, Wednesday, November 14, 2007. He was born September 24, 1927 in Haralson County, Georgia, to the late Lena Leola Smith Roberts and John Harvey Roberts. Mr. Roberts was a machine operator for the Southwire Company and also worked for American Thread and was Holiness by faith. He also enjoyed serving others through helping those in his community. The family of Mr. Roberts would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Haralson Nursing & Rehabilitation. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Clifford Roberts, Harvey Roberts, Mildred Craven, Marie Strickland and Allie Mae Johnson. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Margaret Pardue Roberts; his sons and their spouses, Greg & Christine Roberts of Douglasville, Kenneth & Tracey Roberts of Carrollton, and John Roberts of Bowdon; two sisters, Uzza Brook of Bowdon and Jewel Singleton of Carrollton; also two grandchildren, Lauren & Zach Roberts. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, November 17, 2007 at 2 PM from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Rev. Mark Willingham and Rev. Happy Howard officiating. Pallbearers will be Zach Roberts, Gene Longshore, Jimmy Capes, Steve Norton, Jeff Morris, Chad Morris, Josh Williams, Anthony Roberts and Sonny Roberts. Interment will follow in the Community Cemetery of Bowdon. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 4 until 8 PM & Saturday from 11 AM until the funeral hour.
