John C.
Pearson Jr.
Apr 4, 1948 — May 25, 2026
John C. Pearson, Jr., age 78, of Carrollton, Georgia, went home to Heaven on May 25, 2026. He was born on April 4, 1948, in Spartanburg, SC, to John C. Pearson, Sr., and Ruby Bailey Pearson.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 22 years, Mary Alice Hollowell Pearson, daughter Crystal Chiarelli of Gainesville, grandchildren Tyler Camp of Maryland, Kennedie Camp of Carrollton, and Morgan Tipton of Bremen; and son Samuel Pearson and granddaughter Alayna Pearson of Douglasville.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings Vicki Pearson Waldrop and Danny Pearson.
John was proud of his service in the U.S. Navy, where he was a parachute rigger during the Vietnam War era. He worked in a variety of fields, including retail and restaurant management, before working over 27 years as a key account manager for White Lily in the metro Atlanta area.
He enjoyed coaching basketball and being a part of the teams by producing video recordings of all the games throughout the years. He also provided help in other areas for the basketball and baseball teams and enjoyed traveling with them. He was always very proud of the state championships that he got to witness and of which he was a part.
Since being saved in 1974, he always had a church position in addition to his regular job. He was a 'salesman for Jesus.' He served as a regional representative for the Gideons and was music minister for several churches.
In 2006, he became the Singles Director at First Baptist Church Douglasville. He and Mary Alice worked as a team, counseling and offering relationship classes such as DivorceCare and GriefShare for over 10 years. With God's help, John impacted hundreds of people. In the past few years, he loved to give out the 'Thank You for Your Service' cards to veterans which he had printed.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Eternal Faith Hospice of Carrollton, and caregivers Kelli Nelson, Kim Smallwood, Sherry Herring, and Gena Quinn.
The family will receive friends at Martin & Hightower Funeral Home of Carrollton on Sunday, May 31, 2026, from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM. A memorial service will follow in the Chapel of Martin & Hightower Funeral Home at 3:30 pm. Inurnment will follow at West Georgia Memorial Park.
