John David Popphan, age 76, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away on January 8, 2024. He was born October 15, 1947, in LaGrange, Georgia, the son of the late Harrison Oliver Popphan and the late Lena Steele Popphan.

John served his country in the United States Army and was a Christian by faith. He owned and operated Popphan Construction & Realty Company for most of his adult life. John enjoyed building, construction, grading, and selling homes. In his latter years, he could be found tinkering on cars, or reading a good book.

In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his son, John David Popphan, Jr.; grandson, Silas Langlo; sisters, Nancy Wilson and Carolyn McEwen; brothers, Harlan Popphan, Winford Popphan, and Terry Popphan.

John is survived by his wife, Sara Smith Popphan; children and their spouses, Linda & John Roberts, Angela & Bruce McPherson, John David "Johnny" Popphan II, and Johnna & Dr. Guy Langlo; grandchildren, Alexandra & Ethan Stephens, William & Sierra Roberts, Nicholas Roberts, Augustus McPherson, James McPherson, Autumn Popphan, Spencer Langlo, Nate Langlo, and Gray Langlo; and six great-grandchildren.

In accordance with John's wishes, his body has been cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
