Johnny "Ray" Smith, age 77 of Buchanan, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2026. Ray was born April 25, 1949 in Bremen, son of the late Johnny B. and Mary Lee Huckeba Smith. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Janet Bradley Smith; sisters, Linda Smith and Janice Pollard; and a brother, Mark Smith.

Survivors include his daughter, Cindy Putzek; granddaughter, Courtney (Ricky) Sullivan; and great grandson, Cooper Sullivan.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 17, 2026 from 5 – 7 pm at the funeral home.

Services will be Thursday, June 18, 2026 at 2:00 pm from the Chapel of Hightower Funeral Home with Pastor Roy Frazier officiating. Music will be provided by Ritchie Pollard and Stacy Pollard. Clay Bell, Barry Redding, Jay Mason, Keith Parrish, Dontavius Jackson, and Carlos Brown will serve as pallbearers. Wonnie Whitton and Ricky Sullivan will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
