Johnny Mac
Turner
Jan 9, 1962 — Jan 3, 2026
Johnny Mac Turner, age 63, of Bowdon, Georgia, passed away on January 3, 2026. Born on January 9, 1962, Johnny lived a life defined by hard work, loyalty to family, and a deep appreciation for simple, meaningful moments.
Johnny was raised in a close-knit family and was preceded in death by his parents, Olin Clarence Turner and Nellie Kate Hudgins Turner, as well as his brothers Olin "Donkey" Turner, Jr., Ray Turner, and Forrest Turner, and his sister Maver "Sissy" Griffin. These early family bonds shaped Johnny into the devoted father, grandfather, and man of faith he would become.
Education and perseverance played an important role in Johnny's life. He attended Mt. Zion High School, later earning his GED, and graduated from West Central Technical College with a degree in welding. That skill became the foundation of a lifelong career marked by dedication and pride in honest work. Johnny was a certified welder who spent most of his working years in construction. Most recently, he was employed with North Georgia Turf in Whitesburg, Georgia. Known for his strong work ethic, he believed in earning his way and doing a job right.
Above all else, Johnny was a family man. He was a loving father to his son, Jared Matthew Turner, and his wife, Melaney, of Carrollton, his daughter, Jennifer Megan Turner of Carrollton, and his son, Joshua Mac Turner of Huntsville, Alabama. He found immense joy in being a grandfather to Matthew James Turner, Grace Turner, and Jacob Mac Turner, and he also shared a special bond with his adopted grandchildren, whom he loved as his own. Time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, was what mattered most to him.
Johnny's life was also shaped by love and companionship. He was joined in death by his fiancée, Sue Clark, and he was close to her family and grandchildren, whom he cared for deeply. He also shared a meaningful relationship with his former wife, Jane Johnson, who remained an important part of his life.
A man of faith, Johnny was a Baptist who lived out his beliefs quietly through his actions rather than his words. He enjoyed the outdoors and found peace in fishing; often using those moments to relax, reflect, and connect with the people he loved.
Johnny Mac Turner will be remembered for his steady presence, his willingness to work hard for those he loved, and the genuine care he showed to family and friends. His legacy lives on through his children, grandchildren, and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
