Obituary

June Keaton, of Whitesburg, passed from this life on Friday, August 8, 2008 in the company of family and friends. She fought a courageous battle with cancer. As Saint Paul said, "I have fought a good fight, I have kept the faith…" The proof of her faith is evident in the faithfulness of her many friends and loved ones. Always faithful in her service to the Lord, she was a dedicated member of Grace Baptist Church of Whitesburg. June and her husband of 43 years, Joe Keaton, were the first members to sign the charter for Grace Baptist Church. June accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior on January 10, 1971 at Antioch Baptist Church in Whitesburg. She was also a Sunday school teacher there for many years. In the last few months before her declining health, June started a Ladies Sunday school Class at Grace Baptist Church. June was always, and in all ways dedicated to the Lord, her family, and her church. Her faithfulness to her family is evidenced by the love and respect she received from her family. June was always more concerned for others than for herself. She always put God first, then her family. She was the Sewing Room Supervisor for Fashion Star, Inc., for 29 years. She demonstrated the same loyalty and dedication to her job as to everything else she did. She leaves to treasure her memory her loving husband of 43 years, Joe Keaton, her loving daughter, Tina Jones, her close friend and son in law, Alan Jones, and the greatest treasure in her life---her grandchildren: Josh Jones of Milledgeville, Kyle Jones of Carrollton and Alli Jones, also of Carrollton. She also leaves her loving sister in Christ, trusted friend, and loyal caretaker, Judy Thompson (Lucy). Many other family members, Christian friends, and former co-workers will also treasure her memory. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 9th at 4 PM at Grace Baptist Church, 863 Little New York Road, Whitesburg, Ga., 30185. A Homegoing celebration will be held on Sunday, August 10th at 2 PM, also at Grace Baptist Church of Whitesburg with Bro. Jimmy Lester and Bro. Alan Jones officiating. Graveside services will follow at Whitesburg City Cemetery with Bro. Kyle Jones officiating. Pallbearers will be Billy Keaton, Randall Keaton, Harold Keaton, Mike Horsley, Jeff Jones, Luke Wilson, Clint Brown, and Ricky Carnes. Honorary pallbearers will be Kyle Jones, Hansen Jones, Joseph Horsley, Scott Flournoy, Craylon Darnell and Tommy Brown. Messages of condolences may be sent to the family at www.martin-hightower.com. Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel of Carrollton has charge of the arrangements.
