Obituary

Kathy Jane Burns, age 75, of Roopville Georgia, on January 9, 2025, she was hand-picked by Jesus to follow him to his Holy Land. She was born at home in Roopville, Georgia, on November 17, 1949, Kathy was the daughter of the late Kerman Denney and Marcella Hoke Smith. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Bobby Denney, her grandson, Jonathan Berry, and special friend Mickey Sikes.

Kathy was a dedicated caregiver, especially to the elderly, and was a longtime member of Harmony Baptist Church. Her love for her family was unmatched, and she found joy in spending time with friends, family, and even strangers she would quickly turn into friends. She had a kind heart, a strong spirit, and a smile that lit up any room. One of her favorite sayings was, "I'm a tough old bird, you don't have to worry about me!"—a reflection of the strength and resilience she embodied every day. Kathy lived life on her terms and was capable of accomplishing anything she set her mind to.

She also had a deep love for animals, particularly cats. Often joking about being the "crazy cat lady," Kathy's home was always filled with the purrs and companionship of her beloved furry friends.

Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her love and memory will remain forever in the hearts of her family, friends, and animals alike.

Kathy leaves behind a loving family, including her children Teresa Berry and Allan Berry (Beth), her brother Doyle Denney, her Aunt Sarah Sutton, her cherished grandchildren Erick McGuire (Amanda), Mandy McGuire (Sammy Congie), Brandon Berry (Roccio), Matthew Berry, and Kayley Berry.
