Obituary

Mrs. Karen "Kaye" Argo McCauley, 66, of Whitesburg, Georgia, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, June 28, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on May 17, 1960, in Villa Rica, Georgia, Kaye lived a life centered on family, kindness, and service to others. For more than 25 years, she dedicated her career to the students, families, and faculty of Whitesburg Elementary School. Whether through her work in education or the countless lives she touched along the way, Kaye had a gift for making people feel welcomed, valued, and cared for. Her gentle spirit and caring heart left a lasting impression on generations of children and coworkers alike.

At home, Kaye found her greatest happiness with her beloved husband, George. Together they shared a love for thrift stores, flea markets, estate sales, and antique shops. They were always on the hunt for their next unique treasure, and friends and family never knew what special find the two of them might bring home next. Those adventures together created a lifetime of cherished memories and reflected the joy they found simply being by each other's side.

Above all else, Kaye treasured her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose love knew no bounds. Her home was a place where family gathered, laughter was shared, and everyone knew they were loved.

She is survived by her loving husband, George Richard McCauley; her mother, Carolyn Ledford Argo; her brother, Edward "Eddie" Argo (Debbie); her daughters, Megan Wilson (Luke) and Kaleigh Esposito (Nathaniel); her stepdaughters; Lisa Brooks and Pam Smith (Ray); her honorary daughter, Kandi Faulkner; her grandchildren, A.J. McCauley (Blaklea), Lily Wilson, Noah Wilson, Katie O'Neal (James), Brittany McCauley, Cathy Coleman (Jared), and Andrew Smith (Anna); and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.

She was preceded in death by her son, George Richard "Richie" McCauley, Jr.; her father, Glen Edward Argo; her sister, Janet Lynn Argo; her stepdaughter, Angela Bunn; her grandson, Josh Lanning; and her granddaughter, Jessica Smith.

A funeral service will be held to honor and celebrate her life on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Martin & Hightower Funeral Home. Her nephews, Jess Argo and Jonathan Argo, will participate in the service.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12:00 noon until the hour of service. Following the service, Mrs. McCauley will be cremated in accordance with her wishes.

Kaye's legacy of compassion, generosity, and unwavering love for her family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
