Obituary

Mr. Kermit Denver North, age 86, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2026. Mr. North was born on May 20, 1940, in Carroll County, Georgia, the son of the late William Sellie North and Madge Irene Latimer North.

Kermit was an assembly line technician by profession and retired from the Ford Motor Company. Two of the best words to describe Kermit are "steady" and "consistent." Kermit was known for his great work ethic and was a reliable, dependable person whom family and friends knew they could count on. Throughout his life, Kermit showed his love for his wife, kids, and grandkids through hard work. Though reserved by nature, Kermit's deeds and the effort he poured into keeping his family stable and cared for spoke volumes. He took great pride in his home, his garden, and his yard and always made sure they were well kept.

As a teenager, Kermit played high school basketball for the Roopville Hornets. As a high school junior, Kermit helped the team to an undefeated regular season and, as a senior, helped the Hornets bring a basketball state championship title back to Roopville. He shared his love of basketball with the whole family, especially his daughter Rhonda. At holidays, he frequently gathered the whole family together around the driveway goal for friendly games of "Around the World" and "HORSE." Kermit was also an avid hunter, a hobby that he passed on to both of his sons, Chuck and Curtis. Kermit loved watching Westerns on TCM and loved watching the hummingbirds on his front porch in the summer.

In retirement, Kermit enjoyed a quiet life, spent primarily at the side of his late wife, Jeanette, and their kids and grandkids. Though they traveled some, Kermit and Jeanette's life together is mostly marked by what they built together under their roof on Roy North Road. Together, they raised a family and made a home where their children and grandchildren were always welcome. Their house was truly a home for the whole family. Kermit was a family man above all else. He is dearly loved and missed.

In addition to his parents, Kermit was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Jeanette North, and his siblings: Percy North, Frances Wages, Doris Barrett, Sarah Bell, Ralph North, Jaunieta "Nita" Nida, Geri Glaccum, Charles North, Benny North, and Allene Eldridge.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his children and their spouses, Chuck Denver North and his wife, Tina, Rhonda Dawn Waddell and her husband, Phil, and Curtis Dwayne North and his wife, Heather; his grandchildren, Kaila (Kiel) Mashburn, Kelli (Blake) Robinson, Sydney North, Riley (Joy) Waddell, Logan (Morgan) White, and Alysa (Noah) Taylor; his great-grandchildren, Gunner Robinson, Miller Mashburn, Denver Robinson, Maya Robinson, Marlo Mashburn, Myles Mashburn, Thomas White, and Forrest Taylor; and his siblings, Linda Bennett, Lewis North, and Larry North.

A graveside service will be held to honor and celebrate Kermit's life on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Carroll Memory Gardens, with Chaplain Luke Pollock officiating. Blake Robinson, Gunner Robinson, Kiel Mashburn, Morgan White, and Noah Taylor will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association in honor of Kermit's late wife.
