Laura Mae
Dickson
Oct 15, 1930 — Jul 31, 2026
Laura Mae Patton Dickson of Carrollton, Georgia, was born to the late John Harrison Patton and Willie Inez Meeler Patton on October 15, 1930. She passed away on Friday, July 31, 2026.
Laura Mae grew up in Bogart, Georgia, where she graduated from Bogart High School.
On July 2, 1954, she married Bobby Eugene Dickson. Together they made their home in the Atlanta area, where they welcomed six children before later moving to Carroll County, Georgia. They shared sixty-three years of marriage until Bobby's passing on May 3, 2018.
Laura Mae worked in the lunchroom of the Villa Rica school system until her retirement. After retiring, she joined her husband in Louisiana while he completed his career with General Motors before they eventually returned to their home in Georgia.
She enjoyed attending church, listening to gospel music, reading her Bible, and spending time camping and vacationing with her husband. She also looked forward to family gatherings and the opportunity to be surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and extended family.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant child; her parents, John Harrison Patton and Willie Inez Meeler Patton; and her brother, James Willie "Bud" Patton.
She is survived by her children, Susan (Gary) Hewitt, Sharon (Jeff) Dorough, Sandra (Kenneth) Koch, Samuel (Elizabeth) Dickson, and Stanley Dickson; her sister, Johnnie Cassady; her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Laura Mae will be remembered by those whose lives intertwined with hers throughout the years. Her story continues through the family she helped build, the generations that follow, and the memories shared by those who knew her.
The family will receive friends at Martin & Hightower Funeral Home on Monday, August 3, 2026, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM.
A graveside service will follow at 11:30 AM at Carroll Memory Gardens, with Bro. Jeff Maxwell officiating.
