Linda Rice
Stiles
Sep 14, 1951 — Mar 13, 2025
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Linda Rice Stiles, beloved friend and community servant of Carrollton, Georgia. She departed this life peacefully on Thursday, March 13, 2025. She dedicated her life to uplifting others and will be remembered for her unwavering optimism and resilience in the face of adversity.
Linda was born in Rome, Georgia, and her family's devotion to faith shaped her early years. She graduated from East Rome High School. She worked several jobs to continue her education and pursue her passion for helping others. Ultimately, she obtained her undergraduate degree in psychology and a master's degree in counseling from the University of West Georgia.
Her career was marked by a commitment to service, including working with patients in a psychiatric unit and serving as a counselor and teacher at the Georgia Department of Labor. She retired from the Georgia Department of Labor as the Field Services Manager of the Carrollton office. Most recently, she was instrumental in forming The Friends of Carrollton Head Start Schools program. This initiative was very close to her heart, and she saw a genuine need for it during her time at the Georgia Department of Labor.
Despite facing numerous challenges, including a battle with multiple sclerosis and the tumultuous separations in her family life, Linda emerged with strength and compassion that touched the lives of many.
She was also an ordained elder at Carrollton Presbyterian Church, where she found a place to express her deep faith, often sending cards to other members of the congregation and community for their birthdays, anniversaries, or just to let them know she was thinking of them.
An avid lover of Scrabble, Linda cherished moments spent with friends and family, often accompanied by her loyal canine partner, Candi.
Linda's spirit was defined by her belief that while we cannot control our circumstances, we can choose our response. Her life was a testament to this philosophy. She leaves behind a legacy of hope, love, and dedication to service.
Linda is survived by her friends and countless individuals she inspired during her journey. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched, and she will be missed dearly. In keeping with her wishes, her body will be cremated and there are no services scheduled at this time.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to charitable organizations supporting health research and community service in her honor.
For those wishing to share their condolences, messages may be sent to the family at www.martin-hightower.com. Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel is honored to handle the arrangements during this difficult time.
