Lydia Morris Jackson, age 96 of Roopville, Georgia passed away peacefully Saturday, January 16, 2016 at her home. A lifelong resident of Carroll County, she was born October 20, 1919 in Carrollton, Georgia to the late Tildon T. Morris and Mary Ann Blandenburg. She was a Roopville High School graduate and worked briefly for Lockheed Martin during WWII. She was a lifelong member of Stripling Chapel Methodist Church and took pride in using flowers from her own garden to create arrangements for the altar. Lydia loved the outdoors and stayed busy tending her flowers and beautiful rose garden for as long as she was able. Lydia was an amazing seamstress and really enjoyed fishing. When she wasn't outdoors, she could be found cooking or crocheting. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, Leonard Burl "L.B." Jackson, Jr; sisters, Marguerite Steed and Mary Nell Wolff; and son-in-law, Lynn Horrie Duncan. Survivors include her children, Cheryl Jackson Teets (Rick) of Roswell, Trudy Jackson Duncan of Roopville, and David Burl Jackson (Lisa) of Roopville; grandchildren, Richard W. Teets (Erin), Robin T. Godard (Bob), Brook N. Duncan, Dan H. Duncan (Chelsea), Jamie J. Helinski (Kristopher), and Landon B. Jackson (Ashley); and four great grandchildren, Suzanne and Lindsay Godard, Jackson Duncan and Gunner Duncan. Funeral service will be conducted Monday, January 18, 2016 at 1:00 PM from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Bryan officiating. Interment will follow in Carroll Memory Gardens.
