Mrs. Maggie F. McLendon, age 94, of McLendon Circle, Carrollton, Ga., passed away Monday, June 2, 2008. She was born December 19, 1913 in Carroll County, Georgia to the late Beulah Horton Smith and Richard Smith. Mrs. McLendon was a homemaker, an accomplished seamstress and loved the outdoors and had a special love of babies. She was also a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church for over 60 years. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, H.N. McLendon; two granddaughters, Wanda Bell and Teresa Lovvorn; also three brothers and five sisters. Survivors include her children and their spouses, Jane & Tom Hopkins of Marietta, Ga., and Henry & Diane McLendon of Carrollton, Ga.; sisters, Jeraldine Robinson of Bowdon and Dorothy Thompson of Forest Park; sisters in law, Rachel Smith, Dorothy Smith and Reba Smith all of Carrollton; 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and also a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday June 5, 2008 at 2 PM from Oak Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Wolfe and Rev. Mike Owenby officiating. Pall bearers will be Kyle Holloway, Harold Phillips, Allen McLendon, Donald Smith, David Brown and Mike Brown. Music will be provided by Dale Hendrick. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 5 until 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, 2829 Oak Grove Church Rd., Carrollton, Ga., 30117.
