Obituary

Mary Virginia Outler Rainwater, age 87, of Villa Rica, Georgia, passed away on August 31, 2026. She was born in Alston, Georgia on July 24, 1939, daughter of the late Joel Aden Outler and the late Wimberly "Ted" Lucile Couey Outler. She was a member of Ephesus Baptist Church in Villa Rica, Georgia.

Mary lived a life defined by devotion—to her Lord, her family, and her community. Her journey took a beautiful turn at Brewton-Parker College, where she met the love of her life, Claude. Together, they built a home grounded in faith and standard-setting love.

For over three decades, Mary was in the banking industry, serving her community with integrity and a servant's heart. But to those who knew her best, her true calling was bringing people together. Mary didn't just enter a room; she filled it completely with infectious laughter, radiant warmth, and an unconditional kind of love.

As a devoted wife, a cherished Mom, and a proud Nana, she gave her whole heart to her family. A true sister in Christ, Mary lived out her faith daily through acts of service, kindness, and grace. Her legacy lives on in the endless joy she gave us and the light she left behind.

She is survived by her husband: Claude Kelly Rainwater, Jr. children: Venetia Lewallen (Larry), Vicki Copeland (Andy), Kim New (Billy); grandchildren: Larry "Bo" Lewallen, Jr, Nick Lewallen (Payton), Whitney Wise (Marc), Kristen Hosea (Craig), Aden Copeland, Danielle Nalley (Garrett), Brielle Farrell, Chris New (Morgan), Baleigh Herring (Drew); great-grandchildren: Trey Lewallen (Emily), Tayler Lewallen, Rylan Rivas, Reegan Rivas, Logan Wise, Aubrey Wise, Landon Wise, Ava Hosea, Hudson Hosea, Case Collins, Colt Collins, Noah Nalley, Micah New, Ollie New, Ryleigh Herring, Gracyn Herring; sister: Pat Outler; brother: Glen Outler (Karen); brothers/sisters-in-law: Doug Rainwater (Shirley), Raymond Rainwater (Rita), Richard Rainwater (Trudy), Martha Johnson (Ed), David Rainwater (Debra); special friends and beloved caretakers: Eunice Gundy and Karyn Ekpo.
