It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Michael "Foots" Burson Mitchell, a beloved husband and father who departed this life on December 3, 2025, at the age of 71. Born on September 16, 1954, to Mildred Burson Smith and the late Chester Robert Mitchell.

Michael was employed as a field technician with Plateau Excavation. He and Lisa enjoyed spending quality time together watching Braves Baseball and Alabama Football. He was an outdoorsman and truly loved being outside with his family. His children and granddaughter were the light of his life, and all of them held a special place in his heart. He loved watching Riley take on a competitor on the wrestling mat. Michael's family and friends will hold tightly all of the memories they made together.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Lisa Cole Mitchell; children, Chris Mitchell, William "Bill" Mitchell, and Tabitha Teal; granddaughter, Riley Mitchell; sisters, Carolyn Blythe, Cathy Rogers, Margaret Mitchell, and Robin Langley; and numerous nieces and nephews who will carry forward his legacy of love and kindness.

He was preceded in death by his father, Chester Mitchell, and his nephew, Steven Mitchell.

Michael's life was marked by the love he shared with his family and friends, and his presence will be missed by all who knew him.

In accordance with Michael's wishes, his body will be cremated, and no services are planned at this time.
