Michael Wayne Shadix, age 63, of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away on January 18, 2026. He was born in Carroll County, Georgia on December 3, 1962, son of Buck Shadix and Sandra Tolbert Hamrick. He served the community of Douglas County as a Fireman for over twenty-five years, retiring in 2019. He also served his community with Shadix Landscaping. Mike was always available to his community and never met a stranger. He attended Holy Ground Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of twenty years Amy Otwell Shadix; children: Michaela Hogue and her husband Kody, Madison Shadix, Cody Barnett and his wife Lori Beth; grandchildren; Maisy Barnett, Sawyer Barnett, Blythe Barnett, Kasen Hogue; sisters: Gina Shadix, Kim Hamrick Marshall and her husband Ross; and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother: Mark Anthony Shadix.

The family will receive friends at Hightower's Memorial Chapel on Friday, January 23, 2026 from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.

The funeral service will follow in the Chapel at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Kelly Runels, Richard Harrison, and Michael White officiating. John Reid, Jeff Morris, Tony Morris, Nolan Ayers, Lewis Huddleston, Tony Blackstock, Barry Flowers will serve as pallbearers.

Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Garden.
