Mildred "Millie" Hogsed Gay, age 80, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away Monday, October 5, 2026, at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton. She was born February 20, 1946, in Murphy, North Carolina, to the late Garland Hogsed and Edgel Hogsed Chilson.

Millie worked for many years in the gardening department at The Home Depot before retiring. She loved gardening, birdwatching, reading, and spending time with her beloved dogs.

Most of all, Millie loved her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

She is survived by her four children, Wayne & Patty Payne, Rusty Gay, Bridget & Darren Kee, Spencer & Anita Gay and eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters Martha Hollifield, Wanda Gladson, Joyce Ledford, AnnaLee Hogsed Styles, Opal Cornwell, and Vicki Hogsed; brothers Maynard Hogsed, Larry Hogsed, and Tony Hogsed; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

In addition to her parents, Millie was preceded in death by her brother, Garland Hogsed.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, October 8, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Memorial Hill Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest.

Millie will be deeply missed and remembered for her love of family, books, gardening, birds, dogs, and the simple things that brought her joy.
