Obituary

Mrs. Patsy Tyree Taylor, age 85, of Whitesburg, Georgia, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, on May 20, 2026. Born on October 24, 1940, in Heard County, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late T.X. Tyree, Sr. and Jessie Lou Combs Tyree.

Mrs. Taylor was a lifelong resident of the area and a woman deeply devoted to her family, faith, and community. She was a proud graduate of Heard County High School, Class of 1958. Alongside her late husband, Leroy Taylor, she proudly co-owned and operated Leroy Taylor's Phillips 66 service station for many years, serving the Whitesburg community with hard work, kindness, and dedication until her retirement in 2007.

A faithful Christian, Patsy was a longtime member of Union Grove Christian Church in Douglasville, where she was actively involved in the church choir. She also dedicated time to her community through her service on the Whitesburg City Council.

More than anything, Patsy treasured her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose warmth and caring spirit touched everyone who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Leroy Taylor.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Teresa & Danny Kirk of Roopville, Michael & Misty Taylor of Villa Rica, and Mark & Brandy Taylor of Whitesburg; sister and brother-in-law, Cherry & Ned Grace of Yukon, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Taylor & Hannah Shadrix, Gretchen & Barr Wilborn, Morgan Taylor, Victoria & Justin Presnal, Savannah & Trevor McCray, Amos Taylor, Austin & Jessica Horton, and Mia Watkins; ten great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever cherish her memory.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 22, 2026, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Martin & Hightower Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held to honor and celebrate Mrs. Taylor's life on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of Martin & Hightower Funeral Home, with Minister Mike Mallory officiating and her son, Mike Taylor, delivering the eulogy. Mrs. Taylor will be laid to rest at Whitesburg Cemetery with Taylor Shadrix, Amos Taylor, Austin Horton, Barr Wilborn, Michael Gary, and Indian Wilson serving as pallbearers.

Messages of condolence may be shared with the family at Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel. Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel is honored to serve the Taylor family.
