Norman "Pete" Payton, age 92 of Buchanan, passed away at his home on Wednesday, April 30, 2025. He was born in Buchanan on July 16, 1932, son of the late Albert G. and Bernia Payton.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Patsy Ann Johnson; brother, John Payton; and brother-in-law, Butch Young. His career included jobs with the sawmill, Sewells, and driving a gas truck working with Blossman and McCalman.

Pete was considered a "renaissance man" having the ability to do it all; electrical, plumbing, woodworking and automotive. He never actually retired but used his honed skills to make repairs for friends and extended family.

Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Payton; sisters, Sadie (David) Estep and Dodie Young, all of Buchanan; son-in-law, Reverend Aaron (Martha) Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 4, 2025 from 2:00 pm – 2:30 pm at the funeral home.

Graveside service will be Sunday, May 4, 2025 at 3:00 pm at Payton Family Cemetery with Reverend Aaron Johnson officiating.
