Phoebe Wallace Smith, age 86 of Carrollton, passed away Thursday, June 09, 2016 at her residence. She was born August 11, 1929 in Carrollton, Georgia to the late Mike Wallace and Clara Jane York. She retired after many years working as a nurse's aid for Carrollton Manor Nursing Home and was Pentecostal by faith. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Elmer H. Smith; and daughter, Shirley Marie Little. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Donald Carroll of Whitesburg; son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Debra Smith of Newnan, GA; two sisters, Ruth Mannis of Stephensville, TX and Nadine Henry (Bill) of Whitesburg; two brothers, Billy Wallace (Charlotte) of Franklin, GA, and Rev. Gary Brown (Judy) of Whitesburg, GA; eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be conducted Friday, June 10, 2016 at 12:00 PM from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Rev. Charles Smith officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Banning Church of God Cemetery.
