Richard "Rick" Durwood Poor, age 65, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2026. Born on October 29, 1960, in Bremen, Georgia, to the late William Durwood Poor and the late Claire Stapler Poor.

Rick built a career in law enforcement within the State of Georgia, where he worked faithfully for forty years until his retirement. He was a man who enjoyed the simple things in life and time spent with the people he loved, especially his wife, and his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Rick is preceded in death by his father-in-law & mother-in-law, Bobby & Gladys Patterson.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Robin Lynn Patterson Poor; his children, Jason & Kristie Poor and Jennifer & Kent Garmon; his sister, Michelle Huffstickler; and his grandchildren, Bo Poor, Evie Poor, Lizzie Poor, Elsie Garmon, Piper Garmon, and Kent Garmon III. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will cherish his memory.

A memorial service celebrating Rick's life will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Martin & Hightower Funeral Home with Bro. Barry Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 noon until the hour of service.
