Rodney Shane Zimpelman, age 63, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Saturday, March 14, 2026. Rod was born in Clearwater, Florida on August 18, 1962, son of the late Jerry Lee Zimpelman and the late Anna Vivienne Chestnut Burtchaell. He served 4 years in the U.S. Navy as a hydraulic mechanic on the aircraft carrier the U.S.S. Constellation from 1984-88. Rod was retired from UPS where he worked as a truck driver for 40 years.

He is survived by his sister, Lori Goodwin (Mark); brother, Randy B. Zimpelman (Eva); many nieces, nephews and dear lifelong friends.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Hightower's Memorial Chapel. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm in the chapel at the funeral home with Mark Waldrop officiating.
