Rodric Jackson “Alley Cat”
Edwards
Sep 4, 1941 — Jan 22, 2026
Rodric Jackson "Alley Cat" Edwards, born September 4, 1941, in Carroll County, Georgia, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2026, at the age of 84. A lifelong resident of the Carrollton area, Rodric lived a steady, hardworking life rooted in family, faith, and quiet devotion to those he loved.
For 30 years, Rodric worked as a machine operator at Douglas & Lomason, where he earned the respect of coworkers through his reliability and pride in doing a job well. He believed in showing up, putting in the work, and taking care of responsibilities without fanfare. Those who knew him best understood that his strength was found in consistency, not in words.
Rodric attended Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, where he found comfort and community. His faith guided him through both joyful and difficult seasons, and it remained a steady presence in his daily walk.
He is survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Corrie Dean Pate and her husband, Terry, and Linda Smith and her husband, Smitty, along with many nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory. Among them were his devoted caregivers, Ronnie and Teresa Musick, whose love and care allowed him to remain surrounded by family and dignity in his later years.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Diane Bagley Edwards; his parents, Grady Watson Edwards and Faye Phillips Edwards; his sisters, Sandra Farlow and Wylene Stringer; and his brothers, Holly, Rayford, Billy, Kenneth, Donald, and Steve Edwards.
A funeral service to honor Rodric's life will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Martin & Hightower Funeral Home, with Minister Caryl Strange officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the hour of service.
Rodric will be laid to rest in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Musick, Pete Corley, and Clay Smith.
Messages of condolence may be shared at www.martin-hightower.com. Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel is honored to serve the Edwards family.
