Sandra "Sandi" Shelnut
Hembree
Jun 25, 1956 — Oct 4, 2026
Sandra "Sandi" Shelnut Hembree departed this world peacefully on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at the age of 70. Born on June 25, 1956, in Greer, South Carolina, to the late Earl Shelnut and Joyce Howard Shelnut. Sandi touched the lives of those around her with her warmth and unwavering spirit.
Sandi was a devoted homemaker, whose greatest joy came from spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She found immense happiness in the simple moments spent with her family, nurturing their dreams and watching them grow. Her love for the Lord shone through in everything she did, as she was a cherished member of Christway Church. Her faith guided her and provided comfort, especially after the loss of her beloved husband, Michael Hembree, a loss she carried in her heart, never fully healed.
Sandi is survived by her sister, Terri Diamond; her brothers, Russell, Gene, and Roger Shelnut; godchildren, Teena Sands (Bobby) and Will Snider (Kiah); grandchildren, Destiny, Allen, Noah, Keitlyn, Kota, and Arian; great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Cody, Jayden, and Damien. Each of them will hold tight to the memories of her laughter, her kindness, and her endless love.
In addition to her parents, Sandi was preceded in death by her husband, John "Michael" Hembree.
Friends and family are invited to gather for visitation at Martin & Hightower Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
A funeral Service will be held in Sandi's honor at Martin & Hightower Funeral Home on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Wendell Patterson officiating. Interment will follow at West Georgia Memorial Park with Russell Shelnut, Gene Shelnut, Dusty Diamond, Alan Sands, and Noah Sands serving as pallbearers.
