Steven Neil
Gladney
Mar 18, 1956 — Oct 16, 2026
Steven Neil Gladney, age 70, of Whitesburg, Georgia, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2026, at his residence. He was born on March 18, 1956, in Marietta, Georgia, the son of the late Joseph Edwin Gladney and Carol Miller Gladney.
Steven was a proud veteran of the United States Army, having served his country as an Airborne Ranger with the 325th Infantry Regiment of the 82nd Airborne Division. His military service reflected the courage, discipline, and dedication that would remain defining qualities throughout his life. He carried with him a deep sense of duty and a willingness to serve others, values that extended well beyond his years in uniform.
Following his military service, Steven pursued a career in the aerospace industry, working as an aerospace technician before continuing his professional career with Georgia Power in plant operations. He approached his work with dedication and took pride in the responsibilities entrusted to him. His strong work ethic and commitment to doing things well were evident throughout his career.
Steven was a member of Whitesburg Christian Church, where his faith was an important part of his life. He believed in putting that faith into action and generously volunteered his time for many years with the Whitesburg Food Pantry. Through this service, he helped provide food and encouragement to individuals and families facing difficult circumstances. His willingness to lend a helping hand reflected a caring heart and a genuine concern for the well-being of others. Steven understood that some of the most meaningful ways to make a difference were found in simple acts of kindness and service to one's neighbors.
Above all, Steven leaves behind a legacy of service to his country, dedication to his work, faith in God, and compassion for his community. He will be remembered for the life he lived, the people he helped, and the love he shared with his family.
He is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Erin & Matt Blankenship and Rhonda Gladney; his grandchildren, Noah Blankenship and Ruby Blankenship; his sister and brother-in-law, Jo Ellen & Tommy Galloway; and his brother and sister-in-law, Ron & Kerry Gladney.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 19, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Whitesburg Christian Church, with Minister Barry Shoemake officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 AM until the hour of service. Interment will follow at Antioch Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
