Obituary

Steven Micheal Johnson, age 70, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. Born on January 10, 1955, in Knoxville, Tennessee, he was the beloved son of the late Elmer Johnson Jr. and Ruth J. Massey Johnson.

Steven dedicated many years of his life to his work as a truck driver, a profession he approached with passion and commitment. He was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Austell, Georgia. Steven loved music and was the lead guitarist for several gospel bands, one of which performed at the Grand Ole Opry.

An avid motorsport enthusiast, Steven had a deep love for NASCAR, spending countless weekends cheering for his favorite drivers. A skilled mechanic, he delighted in repairing and restoring old cars and motorcycles, turning what many saw as discarded relics into beautifully functioning machines. He was also passionate about fishing, often finding solace in the great outdoors while casting lines in local lakes and rivers.

Above all, Steven cherished the time spent with his family and friends, creating lasting memories filled with laughter and love. All who knew him will greatly miss his warmth, kindness, and vibrant spirit.

In addition to his parents, Steven was preceded in death by his sons, Samuel K. Johnson and Jeremiah Russell "Rusty" Johnson, and his brother, Tony Johnson.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, Jane Abercrombie Johnson; sons & daughter-in-law, Michael & Marisa Johnson and Steven Michael Johnson Jr.; stepchildren, Jennifer Megan Turner and Jared & Melaney Turner; grandchildren, Jeremiah Johnson, Carson Johnson, Ryan Johnson, Haylee Johnson, Michael Johnson Jr., Maddie Johnson, Grace Saxton, and Matthew Turner; sisters, Tammy Hutcheson and Cookie Ratchford; brothers, Van C. "Beaver" Johnson, and Terry Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.
