Obituary

Thomas Junior Farmer, age 75, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.

Born on March 5, 1951, in Carrollton, Thomas was the son of the late Arthur Thomas Farmer and Alma Odell Puckett Farmer. A lifelong resident of the community he loved, he approached his work with the same qualities that defined his life: dependability, patience, and genuine love for others.

Thomas was a devoted man of faith and a member of Mt. Zion Community Church. His relationship with God was central to how he lived, and he treasured the fellowship he found within his church family. He especially enjoyed studying the Bible with Gary Bradley and spending time in worship. His faith was not simply something he professed; it was reflected in his steady character, his love for his family, and the kindness he showed to those around him.

Family was one of Thomas' greatest joys. He deeply loved his wife, Jean, and the life they built. His two greatest joys in life were being a father and grandfather to the two he loved most; BJ and Carley were his world. He found tremendous happiness in watching his family grow.

Thomas was also a loyal brother who looked forward to Thursdays spent with his brother, Bob. Those ordinary days together became one of his most meaningful traditions and reflected what mattered most to Thomas: time shared with the people he loved.

Thomas found happiness in life's simple pleasures. He enjoyed woodworking and collecting cast iron, hobbies that reflected his appreciation for craftsmanship, usefulness, and things made to last. He also enjoyed playing bingo at the Mt. Zion Senior Center, where he valued the laughter, friendship, and fellowship of those around him.

Thomas loved to eat, and enjoying a good meal was truly one of his favorite pastimes. For him, food was more than something to enjoy; it was another reason to gather around the table, spend time with the people he loved, and savor the everyday moments that made life meaningful.

Whether he was working with his hands, studying Scripture, gathering with friends, sharing a good meal, or spending a Thursday with his brother, Thomas was happiest in the company of others.

Above all, Thomas will be remembered as a man who loved God, cherished his family, served his community, and appreciated the quiet blessings of everyday life. His steady presence, faithful heart, and love for those closest to him will be deeply missed.

In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by his grandson, Bryce Hill.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Jean Thomas Farmer; his daughter and son-in-law, B.J. and Brad Hill; his grandchildren, Carley Morgan, Cade Hill and Aubrey Edge, and Raven and Tyler Scott; his great-grandchildren, Hollis Hill, Boone Hill, Amelia Hill, and Goldie Scott; his brother and sister-in-law, Bobby Lee "Bob" and Terri Farmer; his sister and brother-in-law, JoAnn and Ralph Swanger, whom he loved as a brother; and many other relatives and friends who loved him dearly.

The family will receive friends at Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel on Monday, August 17, 2026, from 2:00 until 4:30 p.m.

A service celebrating Thomas's life will follow at 5:00 p.m. in the chapel, with Pastor Tommy Driver officiating.
