William “Bill” Alfred Codner, Sr., age 80 of Bremen, suddenly passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2026. He was born March 9, 1946 in Orlando, FL son of the late Stan Codner and Catherine ‘Schell’ Codner. Besides his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his wife, Victoria “Vicki” Louise ‘Roberts’ Codner and a grandson, Ben Bodne.
Bill was a sales representative where he opened his own business, Bill Codner and Associates many years ago.
As a young boy, Bill enjoyed playing every sport, fishing, and especially boxing. His love of the sport led him to become an amateur welterweight boxing champion. Throughout his life, he remained passionate about sports and was a loyal Alabama Crimson Tide fan. He never passed on a good political debate and was never one to shy away from sharing his opinions.
Above all else, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His family meant everything to him, and he never missed an opportunity to spend time with those he loved. He never missed an event his children or grandchildren participated in always making sure he was there to cheer them on and show his support. In his later years, one of his favorite things to do was watch his youngest grandson play baseball, spending most weekends at the ball field. He was proud of his family and treasured the moments they shared.
He never met a stranger. He could strike up a conversation with just about anyone, whether they were ready to listen or not! His outgoing personality, strong opinions, and love of conversation made him a memorable character to everyone who knew him.
Most importantly, he was a man of deep faith. He never wavered in his belief in our Lord and Savior, and his faith remained a constant throughout his life.
He was a one-of-a-kind man who loved deeply, stood firm in his beliefs, and treasured his family above all else. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a family who will forever cherish the time they had with him.
He will be greatly missed and loved always. He would want us to end this by saying “Roll Tide!”
Left to cherish his memory include his children, Stacy Desprez (James), Kim Bodne (David), and Billy Codner; a daughter-in-law, Gloria Codner; and grandchildren, Mackenzie Desprez Ford (Corey), Reese Desprez, Melanie Bodne, Cass Bodne, Lauren Bodne Fabre (Facundo), Lucy Codner, Olivia Codner, Ava Grace Codner, and Jacob Codner; and one great grandson, Luke Benjamin Fabre.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, December 5th, 2026 from 12:00-2:00 PM.
A celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, December 5th, 2026 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Hightower Funeral Home.
