Willie
Griffie
Dec 2, 1943 — Feb 26, 2024
Willie Griffie, age 80, of Temple, Georgia, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024. He was born December 2, 1943, in Lost Creek, Kentucky, the son of the late Jack Griffie and the late Rosie Bolen Griffie.
Willie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a Brick Mason with Griffie Construction for 50 years. His life centered around spending time with his family, friends, and, of course, his work. He enjoyed NASCAR racing, watching Alabama football, Kentucky basketball, western episodes, and The Price is Right. Family time always consisted of cornhole, horseshoes, and grilling great food. On his days off, Willie could be found working in his garden or the yard and spending time with kids, grandkids, his dog Demi, and his cat Rupp. He was a private man and was Baptist by faith. He enjoyed Gospel music and Charles Stanley's sermons. We will all miss that time tremendously.
Willie is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Stewart Griffie; daughters, Mary (Keith) Fraser and Benita (Heath) Schultz; sons, Bud (Mandy) Griffie and Jack (Angie) Griffie; sister, Lou Winters; grandchildren: Thomas McGraw, Ryan Griffie, Brittany Schultz, Chase Schultz, Ethan Griffie, Morgan Fraser, Tiffany Griffie, Melanie Griffie, Prestley Griffie, Parker Griffie, Macey Griffie, Wesley Griffie and Dawson Fraser; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Mary Scruggs, Elmer Griffie, Jim Griffie, Charles Griffie, Nori Vines, Lynda Carroll, Johnny Griffie and Billy Griffie.
The family will receive friends at Martin & Hightower Funeral Home on Friday, March 1, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held in the Chapel at Martin & Hightower Funeral Home on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Anthony Puckett officiating. Interment will follow in Melrose Cemetery with the following grandsons as pallbearers: Thomas McGraw, Ryan Griffie, Chase Schultz, Ethan Griffie, Parker Griffie, Wesley Griffie and Dawson Fraser.
