OUr Care Continues
Aftercare & Grief Support
Grief doesn't end when the funeral service is over, and neither does our care for the families we serve.
At
Hightower Family Funeral Homes, we offer a variety of aftercare programs designed to provide comfort, encouragement, friendship, and connection in the days, months, and years following a loss. Whether you're looking for a support group, an opportunity for fellowship, or simply someone who understands, we hope you'll find a place where you feel welcome.

Circle of Friends

Circle of Friends brings widows together for friendship, encouragement, and mutual support. These gatherings offer an opportunity to share a meal, enjoy fellowship, and build meaningful relationships with others who understand the experience of losing a spouse.
The Carrollton group meets on the first Thursday of each month at noon. The Bremen and Douglasville groups meet on the second Tuesday of each month.
Social Circle
Social Circle is a gathering for women seeking friendship, encouragement, and connection. Whether or not someone has experienced a loss, all women are welcome.
Each gathering includes a meal, an inspirational story, and an activity such as a game or craft.
Social Circle meets monthly from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Jackie's House.

Hightower's Helping Hands
Hightower's Helping Hands provides fellowship and encouragement for men who have experienced the loss of a loved one.

The group gathers for lunch on the third Tuesday of each month and occasionally participates in small projects to help widows in the community.
Grief Share
GriefShare is a supportive group for those navigating the loss of a loved one. Through meaningful discussions, encouragement, and shared experiences, participants can connect with others who understand the challenges of grief.

GriefShare meets every Wednesday.
The Grief Recovery Method
The Grief Recovery Method offers structured support for individuals experiencing grief related to death, divorce, and other significant losses.
Sessions are available by appointment, either individually or in small groups, providing a supportive environment for those working through the emotional effects of loss.
Dinner at Jackie's
Dinner at Jackie's is a monthly gathering for current and former participants of GriefShare and The Grief Recovery Method.

Held on the last Tuesday of each month, these dinners offer an opportunity to reconnect, share a meal, and continue the friendships formed through our grief support programs.
Infant Loss Support
Our Infant Loss Support program offers a compassionate space for mothers and fathers grieving the loss of an infant.
The group meets quarterly, providing an opportunity for understanding, encouragement, and connection with others who have experienced a similar loss.
Miles of Memories
Miles of Memories combines physical activity with opportunities for emotional healing and connection.
Through walking and fellowship, participants can enjoy time outdoors, build relationships, and find encouragement as they navigate grief.
Turning Pages at Jackie's House
Turning Pages is a book club that brings people together through reading, conversation, and fellowship.
The group meets on the third Monday of each month at Jackie's House.
Journey Beyond Jackie's House
Journey Beyond Jackie's House offers personal encouragement and connection for those navigating grief.
Through mentorship and compassionate support, participants can connect with others who understand the challenges of loss.

Little Free Grief Libraries

Sometimes comfort can be found in the pages of a book. Our Little Free Grief Libraries offer resources for individuals and families navigating loss, providing an opportunity to find encouragement and understanding at their own pace.
These libraries are located in the parking lots of all three of our funeral home locations in Carrollton, Bremen, and Douglasville
Circle of Friends
In 2005, due to an enormous amount of support and participation, the Circle of Friends group expanded to the Bremen location of Hightower Family Funeral Homes. In 2010, after seeing the impact this group could have, Douglassville received its own Circle of Friends thanks to the continued support of Hightower Family Funeral Homes.
The groups meet once a month for a covered-dish meal and a special program from local interests, businesses, entertainers, and the like. The group experiences have included: cookouts, going to musicals like The Nutcracker in Downtown Atlanta, taking periodic road trips to fun places like Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, Savannah, Georgia, Branson, Missouri, Charleston, South Carolina, Chattanooga, Tennessee, Covington, Georgia, Americus, Georgia, and beyond! The groups also volunteer in their respective communities by hosting monthly birthday parties for senior citizen centers or groups and various assisted living centers. They also participate in a remembrance program every year around the holidays by providing refreshments for those who have lost a loved one during that year.
“The death of a spouse is one of the toughest life experiences many people ever encounter,” stated Wavney Greene, Circle of Friends III Director. “Their life as they have known it has been turned upside-down. Many are unsure how to function without their spouse. All of our ladies have lost their husband to death and are generally hesitant to or uncertain how to begin the new life—alone—outside of their children, family, or the closest of friends.
“Our group is not a sad or depressing group—in fact, it is the opposite! We have fun—yes, we have fun. These ladies have all been there, and they are able to help others who are following in some of their same footsteps. We have a blast during our monthly meetings and when we travel together! Some folks choose to be alone, and that is certainly their choice. Our ladies were not given a choice, but they all have chosen to join our group and form new friendships and lifelong bonds.
“The Hightower family takes great pride in serving our communities during life’s most difficult moments; however, it is their support for the community before there is a ‘need’ for their service and even after the service is over that has impressed me as well.”
Hightower Family Funeral Homes sponsors the Circle of Friends and provides chartered bus transportation for all group travel and support to each group with the use of their Family Care Centers for meals and events, among various other needs.
“We invite and encourage any lady who has experienced the loss of their spouse to consider attending the group that’s most convenient to you,” said Bryant Hightower, a third-generation funeral director and co-owner of Hightower Family Funeral Home. “My father, Richard, and my brother, Bill, along with our entire staff, and I believe you will find strength, hope, and healing through the fellowship and support of the “Circle of Friends.” Building lasting friendships and relationships are two of the most memorable and important traditions my grandfather, the late H.B. Hightower, instilled in my Dad, brother, and me. ‘Life’s most treasured moments are best shared with family and good friends’ he would say.”
Circle of Friends III in Douglasville meets the second Tuesday of every month beginning at 4:30 P.M. in the Family Care Center inside Hightower's Memorial Chapel, 12651 Veterans Memorial Highway, Douglasville, Georgia 30134.
